If CPAP was Ironman, The Lodger would be the winner!

If CPAP was Ironman, The Lodger would be the winner! That's the quote of the day. I think we better get it printed on a t-shirt.  The Lodger, Champion of CPAP 2018 For those without knowledge of Ironman, it's an endurance event that the better half took part in last weekend. This year was the Ironman 70.3, a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and a half marathon, all to be completed within a time limit. The Lodger and I were the Ironman Support Crew. In the Lodgers words, our job was to 'Cheer on Dad and see his medal at the end!'. Two boxes ticked and to quote The Lodger " Well done Dad!" Ironman Success We had many celebrations this summer. A New house, a family wedding, birthdays, triathlons, Ironman... but in the world of living with PWS, we have some PWS celebrations too. Obviously, being a champion of CPAP (For those without knowledge of CPAP click here ) is now close to the top of the list, possibly even knocking down the Ironman medal f...

Into the land of 'big school' education we go!

The Lodger has started primary school. I'll repeat that. The Lodger has started primary school.  If I wasn't the person helping him put on his school uniform, getting his lunch ready, bringing him to school and answering his approximately 10,000 questions on the topic I wouldn't believe it. How can five years go by so fast? On the first day of school, we gathered in the PE hall to wait for the Teacher to call her class. He was subdued (this is rare!). The hall was busy, loud and filled with a lot of parental emotion!!  The Lodger looked up at me and told me he was a little bit sad.  THIS WAS A REVELATION!!! In my mind, I jumped into the air with delight and high fived the crowd.  We've been working with The Lodger for a very long time now to identify emotions.   In reality, I took him to the side of the room and we sat down and amongst all the chaos I got to the bottom of why he was a little bit sad. He needed to meet h...

A Change-About Day

Today started like most other Saturdays, we had our breakfast and we discussed the plan for the day. The Lodger likes to know what is happening but in the same breath he doesn't like when plans change. Through lessons learned over the past few months, we only tell The Lodger plans for the day that are definitely happening.  But today, today was a Saturday. The to-do list for the morning had been made. We put on our jackets, T he Lodger carried the shopping bags and I picked up the car seat. I went to open the front door and realised my keys were missing!  After a little bit of panic that The Lodger was oblivious to, I found the spare car key and we used the back door to leave the house. This was met with many questions about the status of the front door but we moved past it and The Lodger helped carry the bags, as we made our way to the car. To my horror, the key I thought was the spare key was not for this car. I assessed the situation....
